The National Audubon Society's Project Puffin operates seven seabird research stations in the Gulf of Maine at Stratton Island, Outer Green Island, Jenny Island, Pond Island National Wildlife Refuge, Eastern Egg Rock, Matinicus Rock, and Seal Island National Wildlife Refuge. The field season extends from early May through mid-August.
